LONNIE LEE McKNEELY, 92 Lakeland- Lonnie Lee McKneely, age 92, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 due to pancreatic cancer. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 23, 1921. Lonnie Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Elon and Lonnie Smith, and her brothers, Donald, Benny, Frank, and Wayne Smith. She is survived by her husband, Frederick Owen McKneely, her daughter, Leesa McKneely Arce, and Granddaughter, Isabella Guevara Arce. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Jenny Yarbrough, and Eleanor Reeves, and brother, Gerald Smith. Lonnie Lee attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia where she met her husband, and went on to graduate from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, and later became a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Lonnie Lee had an ongoing passion for Bible Study. She was a member of PEO. This quintessential Southern woman remained active her entire life, taking care of her family, and touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Lonnie Lee was an expert in the art of homemaking. She was a consummate scheduler, enabling her to run a tight ship in the household. Her skills were unmatched as a phenomenal cook, master quilter, meticulous tailor, as well as an avid reader. A celebration of Lonnie Lee's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 27th at Heath Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
