Lawrence (Larry) Slack of Lakeland, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Lakeland Regional Hospital. He was born August 28, 1941, to Alfred and Jessie (Jackson) Slack in rural Jasper County, Illinois. He was married to Pat (Kaufman) for 62 years, and she survives.

Larry was a glazier and an owner/operator of Slack Glass Company until his retirement in 2002. Larry enjoyed building and fixing things, and he and Pat enjoyed boating, traveling, and spending time with family. Larry is survived by his daughters: Tracey (Stan) Uphoff and LeAnne (Chuck) Decker; and 5 grandchildren: Charlie Decker, Jessie (Cassidy Page) Decker, Sam Uphoff, Mick Decker, and Olive Decker. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers: George (Betty) Slack and Dean (Carol) Slack.

Per Larry’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.

Mass of Christian Burial for Larry will be held on Friday, December 27th, at 11 o’clock, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana, Illinois, with Fr. Joseph Havrilka Celebrant. Please consider casual attire: Larry would want you to be comfortable. Luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 213 S. Locust St., Pana. Private burial will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School at 3 E. Fourth St., Pana, IL, or Effingham County Humane Society, P.O. Box 321, Effingham, IL.
