Kathryn Long Adams

June 17, 1943 — March 20, 2023

Kathryn Long Adams passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023. She was born in Norfolk County, Virginia on the 17th of June 1943. She attended Lander College.


She was a dedicated teacher, a member of the Lakeland Junior Women’s Club and enjoyed volunteering on behalf of children’s needs.


She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle.


Kathy was a dedicated Clemson Tiger football fan, always making a point to schedule her other activities around the team’s football schedule.


Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and always had a special cabinet of toys and a freezer full of ice cream treats ready whenever they would visit.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Long, and her son, Matthew Robert Adams.


She is survived by her daughters Katy (John) Dumont of Lakeland, Florida, and Leigh Haines of Lakeland, Florida; her grandchildren Hannah Simpson, Holden Wendel, Hunter Haines, and Hayden Brown; her sisters Peggy (Tony) Strawhorn and Beth (Alan) Runyan; her beloved nephews and extended family, along with many dear friends and neighbors.


Her family is grateful to her caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living and Cornerstone Hospice.


Services will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Heath Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
