Kathleen Janet Garrison 79 Music Teacher Lakeland-Mrs. Kathleen Janet Garrison died on November 28, 2011 at Good Shepherd Hospice of cancer. She was born August 12, 1932 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Kathleen was a graduate of Carson Newman College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She was a member of Lakeland Choral Society, FUMC church choir, PEO, Antique Club, United Methodist Women""s Christian Circle and played the piano for the FUMC Sunday School classes. She taught public school music for 34 years. A third generation educator, she was appreciated by all her students and many of them called her ""Mom."" Mrs. Garrison inspired many students to make music a life devotion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Paul McCullers and Amy Hall McCullers. Her survivors are her husband, Mr. Joe R. Garrison, Lakeland, FL., daughter, Cheryl G. Peterson, Tallahassee, FL, three grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Tallahassee, FL., Jay Peterson, Tallahassee, FL. , Garrett Peterson, Tallahassee, FL. one great-granddaughter, Sarah Brooke Peterson, Tallahassee, FL.Her brother, Douglas McCullers, Sterling, Kansas, and her sister, Genevieve Leach, Greensboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823 Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church Sanctuary.
