Judy Franke Judy Franke, 75, died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 27, 2015, at Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center. A retired bookkeeper, and a widow since 1994, Judy enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite activities included sewing, playing bingo, or reading a mystery or romance novel in her favorite chair with her cat on her lap. An avid reader, she loved going to the Lakeland Public Library and returning home with a bag full of books. She would often read a book a day. Although she liked listening to country music, she always thought Elvis Presley was the King. Judy loved her home in Lakeland""s Stoney Pointe community, and she took comfort in knowing her neighbors looked after her and reached out to her when she needed help. Born Evelyn Judith Walp in Trenton, NJ, she married Charles Henry Franke Jr. in 1959. In West Caldwell, NJ, they raised three children: Linda Franke Hagerty (Lakeland, Fla.), Bonnie Hall Davenport (Los Alamos, NM), and Charles Henry Franke III (Frisco, Texas). In addition to her three children, survivors include son-in-law Thomas Hagerty (Lakeland, Fla.) granddaughters Laura Hagerty (Gainesville, Fla.) and Sarah Hagerty (Lakeland, Fla.), son-in-law Robert Davenport (Los Alamos, NM), grandson Charles Ray Hall (Albuquerque, NM), daughter-in-law Irum Mir Franke (Frisco, Texas), granddaughter Angel Franke (Denton, Texas) and grandson Charles Henry Franke IV (Frisco, Texas). In keeping with her wishes, there was no visitation or memorial service. Contributions can be made to one of her favorite places, the Lakeland Public Library.
