Mr. Josephus (Jack) James age 80, of Lakeland, passed away Friday August 26, 2011 of cancer. Mr. James was born August 12, 1931 in Wrens, GA. He came to Lakeland in 1954 after serving in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, where he served with the 45th Infantry division in the Korean War. He was employed with Swift Meat Packing until his retirement in 1980. He has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Eaton Park for 56 years. Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Ernestine James, brother John James, and sister Louise Coe. Survived by daughter Terry Buckley and husband Jack, Lakeland, sister Sara Cranford, sister-in-law Dianne James Curl, Thompson Ga., and Jean Bachelor Margate, FL. Grandson Jerin Wells, USMC Quantico, VA. Step- grandchildren Jay Buckley (Sandee), Nicholas Buckley (Jaclyn) & Erica Mortimer (Anthony). A memorial service will be held Friday September 2 at 1:30 at the First Baptist Church of Eaton Park, 3044 Atlantic Avenue, Eaton Park. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the building fund of Eaton Park Baptist Church, or Good Shepherd Hospice.
