John Russell Blagoff Lakeland " John Russell Blagoff 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2015. He was born on February 14, 1928, to Christ and Fanny Blagoff, in Massillon, Ohio. He was very proud to be a ""Massillon Tiger,"" member of the JCs, and the vice president of his senior class. John served in the Ohio National Guard Company L from 1952-1958. He went on to work at Kanner""s Men's Store, fitting suits as a young man, and took pride in his appearance, always looking sharp. He later worked as an office manager for the Republic Steel, where he retired. With his wife he moved to Lakeland following their daughter. They resided across the street from her and enjoyed many happy hours taking care of his granddaughters. He loved to socialize, never met a stranger, and his favorite place to hangout was Publix Southgate. He was passionate about early film (movies). He enjoyed big band music, live shows, politics and collecting. John was a loving, sweet, humorous and devoted, husband, father and friend who loved life. He leaves to cherish sweet memories of him to his wife Barbara Ann Blagoff of 63 years this Christmas Day; a daughter, Margaret Blagoff-Colson; granddaughters, Summer and Emma Colson; a step-son of 70 years, David Miller; four grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Cornerstone Hospice of Polk, Highlands and Hardee County. There will be a small burial ceremony in Ohio after the holidays.
