John Arthur Lewis, Jr

J. Arthur "Art" Lewis, 85, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, in Lakeland, FL. Art was born on November 12, 1930, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Art was preceded in death by his parents, J. Arthur and Jane Lewis and sister, Jane Marable. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Lakeland; his children, Anne Marie Gonzalez (Harry) of Lakeland, Timothy Lewis (Jo Ann) of Lakeland, Matthew Lewis (Dorothy) of Wesley Chapel, FL, and James Lewis (Gidget) of Colorado Springs, CO; sister Caroline Curran (Norman) of Lakeland; and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Beth) and Virginia (Jen) Lewis, Matthew and Mollie Lewis, Roddy, Rory and Mallory Lewis, and Jane Anne Gonzalez; as well as a niece, Cathy Livingston, and nephews, Norman Curran, Jr., and Edward Marable. Art was a graduate of the University of Miami, a Korean War veteran, a businessman, and a parishioner of St. John Newman Catholic Church. He enjoyed boating, fishing and organic gardening. The viewing and rosary will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 6pm to 8pm at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 19, 2016, at St. John Newman Catholic Church. A reception will follow. The graveside service will begin at 2pm at Oak Hill Cemetery.
