Jim Lee, 68 Jim Lee Insurance Lakeland " Born William James Lee, Jim died unexpectedly April 23, 2013 at LRMC due to a massive heart attack. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 26, 1944, and came to Lakeland to attend Florida Southern College. He began his career as a teacher and coach with the Polk County schools, but quickly began his career in the insurance industry for which he earned numerous professional designations over his 42 years in that profession. Ever active in the Lakeland community, Jim has served on the boards of the Lakeland Family YMCA, Learning Resource Center, Dixie Youth Baseball and the Advisory Board of Community Southern Bank among others. He was a charter member of the Sixth Man Club at Florida Southern, served as its president for more than six terms and supported athletics throughout the State. A recent endeavor was to assist in the creation of The Hall of Legends for basketball. Jim""s passion was to help others, and he did it admirably. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Margaret Lee and William Lee. He is survived by the love of his life Nannette Lee, their two sons Randy(Christine) and Ricky(Christy) and granddaughters Sydney and Stella; three sisters: Margaret Neustadt-VA, Doris Mohr(Tom)-IA, Elizabeth Thomas(Jim)-Texas, a brother Robert(Phyllis)-Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Jim Lee Scholarship Fund at Florida Southern College, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Dr., Lakeland, FL 33801. Family will receive friends Thursday, April 25, from 5 to 7pm at the Heath Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 26th, at 2pm at First United Methodist Church.
