JERRY MASON WINES December 18, 1932 " March 6, 2015 J. Mason Wines of Lakeland, Florida passed away peacefully on March 6, 2015. Mason was born on December 18, 1936 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina the only child of Johnnie and Virginia Wines. He spent the majority of his adult life in Winter Haven and Lakeland, Florida but spent his summers for the last 4o years in his beloved Blowing Rock, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of Florida on a golf scholarship where he had a scratch handicap. While there he became a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity and remained an avid Gator fan for his entire life. Upon graduation, Mason went on to study his passion of law at Stetson Law School where he earned the honor of top of his class. Although he was ""as poor as a church mouse,"" he became a partner in the law firm of Stanley Wines Murphy Helms Bennett and Spanjers. Although he received many awards, accolades and recognitions throughout his life, Mason took the most pride in the accomplishments of his family and friends. Mason was preceded in death by his daughter Harriett ""Rhett"" Wines Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nancy Pollard Wines. He leaves behind a legacy of life in daughters Molly Rizzi (Pat), Cassandra ""Sam"" Barker (John), step children, Eddie Anderson, Georgia Henkel, Frank Anderson and Amber Lagrew (James), niece, Melissa Helms, nephews Jamie and Walter Pollard and their loving wives, Gloria and Karen. His influence stretches to 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mr. J. Mason Wines also leaves behind a far reaching family of nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched and who will remember him with a story and a smile. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to All Saints"" Episcopal Church or The Humane Society of Polk County.
