Jay Oscar Springer, Jr

Jay Oscar Springer, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 16, 2024. Jay is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Foy Lynn Springer, parents Jay and Mary Springer and sister Anita Kanitz. Survivors include his wife, Mary Springer and children and their husbands, Jayne and Tom Couch, Sharon and Floyd Freeman, Sandy and Jon Ryan and brother John Springer. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Jay dedicated his life to the Lord and the community. He was a member of the Florida National Guard and left the guard as a Master Sergeant. He followed his father’s footstep by being a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troup 103. Jay always prided himself on the relationships and values of what was the Boy Scouts.

Jay worked at Peoples Bank for 45 years, retiring as a Sr. Vice President. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and always enjoyed being on the water. There was always a story to tell and laughter when Jay was around. He lit up the room with his presence and will be sorely missed by his acquaintances, friends, and loved ones.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland on 12/23/24 @10:00am. In lieu of flowers please donate in Jay’s honor to Homosassa River Restoration homosassariverrestorationproject.com.
