Janice N. Claxton

Janice Claxton, 82 Traviss Technical Center Teacher Lakeland - Janice Nichols Claxton died of natural causes on June 28, 2016 in Lakeland, FL. She was 82. Born in Warrensburg, MO, on December 7, 1933, she was a native of Versailles, MO. She came to Polk County from Sarasota, FL in 1963. She was a graduate from Florida Southern College and the University of South Florida. She was a charter faculty member of Polk Vocational Center, now Traviss Technical Center, where she taught for 26 years, retiring in 1991. She was preceded in death by her son, James G. (Jim) Claxton. She is survived by her brother, Lawson Nichols, Bradenton, FL, and two nephews. Services will be held at a later date in Versailles, MO. Heath Funeral Chapel.
