Janet Alexandra Jerome

Janet Alexandra Jerome passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the age of 75. She was born in Strangroen, Guyana on June 1, 1941, the second daughter of Jwalla and Bissoondai Persaud, who predeceased her. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Peter Jerome of Lakeland, Florida, two children, Sharon Jerome (Matt Newsom) of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Paul Jerome of Lakeland, Florida, as well as three grandchildren, Corinne, Jarrett, and Jaeden Newsom. She is also survived by her three sisters and nine brothers and countless other family members. She moved to England in 1961 to pursue a nursing career and worked as a Registered Nurse in both London and Portsmouth until 1987 before moving to Florida where she helped to run a family business for 17 years. She enjoyed country and western music, reading, and cooking. Janet always had a positive outlook in life, in spite of her failing health in later years. She was a wonderful wife, mother and nana and will be sadly missed by all of her family. No one will ever take her place.
