Jamie Sikes’ soul was carried by the ocean breezes of his home in Melbourne Beach, Florida while he slept on April 5th, 2021. Jamie was born in Lakeland, Florida on April 8, 1964. He graduated from Lakeland High School and the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He later received his Master’s Degree from Georgia State University. Jamie was incredibly intelligent, and the most humble person you’d ever meet. His friends and family will remember how accomplished Jamie was as a young athlete, especially in tennis. He was an avid sports fan and lifelong supporter of the Detroit Tigers, the Tampa Bay Bucs, and the Florida Gators. His passion to travel took him throughout the United States, Africa, South America, and Europe. He will always be remembered for his love of travel and sports, especially the Gators. Jamie will be missed for his kind heart and unwavering thoughtfulness. He was a caring husband, son, brother and friend. Jamie was predeceased by his father, James Wesley Sikes, Sr., and is survived by the most important lives he has touched: His wife and best friend, Doris; his beloved and nurturing mother, Christine; his supportive sister Shannon, whom he admired so much along with her husband Richard; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and his four legged children, Kona, Ty, Slate, and Sasha. Even though he left an empty space in all of us when his soul departed, his legacy and warmth towards humanity will fill that space for the rest of our lives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart of Horse Sense, at www.heartofhorsesense.org. Fr. Reid will conduct a funeral service for Jamie Sikes on Saturday, April 17th at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints’. Due to the coronavirus restrictions, the service will be limited to very close family and friends. If you would like to watch the service, it will be livestreamed on All Saints’ Facebook and website, allsaintsweb.org.
