James Smiley (Spooky) Bush, 77 City of Lakeland Firefighter Lakeland- Mr. James Smiley (Spooky) Bush died on December 24, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center of heart failure. He was born September 7, 1936 in Colquitt, GA. Mr. Bush served in the United States Army and was stationed in Birmingham, AL, working in the records department. He later served in the Army National Guard as a Warrant Officer. Mr. Bush received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Lakeland Business College. He also completed accounting courses from LaSalle University. He worked as a Firefighter at the City of Lakeland Fire Department for 29 years, retiring as a lieutenant. Mr. Bush owned and operated Bush Bookkeeping and Income Tax Service for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his parents James Campbell Bush and Mattie Lee Holt Bush Matthews, stepfather, Sherman Matthews and brother, Fletcher Bush. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ethel Elizabeth Jones Bush, daughter, Sonja Kay Bianco and husband John Jr., son, James Anthony Bush and his wife, Jennifer Canady Bush, 4 grandchildren, Talia Bianco, John III (Bo) Bianco, James (Bobby) Bianco, Talina Bianco, brother, Danny L. Bush and his wife Carol, stepsisters, Betty Madden, Kitty Hite, stepbrother Lavon Matthews and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1511 N.
