James P. Hahn, Sr. August 27, 1933 " March 10, 2013 James Paul Hahn, Sr. was born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1933, to George P. and Cora Hahn. He would move with his parents to Lakeland several months later, growing up in Lakeland and graduating from Lakeland High School in 1951. Although he died in Knoxville, Tennessee after a brief stay of several months with his son""s family, on Sunday, March 10, due to complications from Alzheimer""s, Jimmy spent nearly his whole life in Lakeland, except for his time in college, graduating from Stetson University in Deland, FL in 1955, and during law school, graduating from Stetson Law School in St Petersburg, FL in 1957. Jim and his wife Ruby Jo, whom he married in 1955, moved back to Lakeland in 1957 and he began to practice law. He would continue to do so for over 50 years, during which time he would serve many clients faithfully and hold numerous offices in both local and state bar associations. Jim and Jo were blessed with a son, Paul, born to them in 1962. That same year, Jim helped to plant Lakeside Baptist Church, where he was a charter member and served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member across five decades. Jimmy""s infectious love for Jesus was evident for all to see, as Christ truly was the center of his life and the source of his hope, his only comfort in life and in death being that he belonged to Jesus and He belonged to him. Jimmy served for many years as trustee of the Florida Baptist Children""s Homes and Lakeland""s Salvation Army Board as well. Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo, who currently resides in Knoxville, Tennessee; by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Fran Hahn, of Knoxville, Tennessee, where Paul is pastor of Redeemer Church of Knoxville (PCA); and by his grandchildren, MaryFran Hahn of Lexington, Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Duggan Hahn at Vanderbilt University, Bailey Hahn at Auburn University, and Jimmy Hahn of Knoxville.
