James L. Moore

James (Jim) Leonard Moore, 84 Lakeland - James (Jim) Leonard Moore, 84, of Lakeland went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018, while in Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida. He died of natural causes. Jim was born in Lakeland, Florida to Thomas H. Moore and Mae Bell Smith on February 2, 1934. He graduated from Summerlin Institute (now Bartow High School) in June 1954. He married Dora Ann Boyd in June 1955. While raising three children, he worked for a vending company for several years in Lakeland. He then worked at Piper Aircraft and retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Company, both in Lakeland. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing and football games. He also loved the outdoors including hunting and fishing; but most of all, he enjoyed travelling to the Smoky Mountains, especially Cades Cove, Tennessee, and taking pictures of deer and bears. He is survived by a brother, Carl (Judye) Moore; two sons, Fred (Mary Jane) and Mike (Mildred) Moore; a daughter, Judy Graham; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mae Bell Moore; his wife of 59 years, Dora Ann; a sister, Katie Mae Fulghum; and a son, Donald. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801. The burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 U. S. Highway 98 South, Lakeland, Florida 33812.
