James Grady Fields, 98, died July 18, 2014 of congestive heart failure with his loving family at his side. He was born October 6, 1915 in Lakeland, FL. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Buttercrust Bakery after 33 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Church of God, a role model and admired by his family and all who knew him. Grady enjoyed gardening, fishing and his family. He was our hero, such a wonderful, gentle, Christian man that loved the Lord, loved his family, loved his country and loved his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Jessie Fields, his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy Mimbs Fields, his brother Herbert and sisters Severa and Ethel. Grady is survived by his daughter, Janice Lovering (Randall) of Lakeland, sons, Charlie Fields (Cheryl) of Plano, Texas, and Ken Fields (Kim) of Lakeland, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, from 5 p.m. " 7 p.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel. Services to celebrate Grady""s life will be Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel.
