James Clinton Flynn, 93 Lakeland - Flynn, James Clinton, ""JC"", 93, passed away at his Lakeland home on January 18, 2015 of natural causes. JC was born in Tampa, Florida on August 15, 1921. A World War II Navy Veteran, JC served aboard a USN schooner, hauling vital supplies between Florida and Cuba. As a radio man, he handled radio communications, high speed code, signal flags and lights. JC continued a lifelong love of Amateur Radio (HAM) for over 79 years (W4FGC). He was a longtime member of ARRL, always promoting the love and responsibility of membership. In his youth, he volunteered sending messages from visitors at the Florida State Fair to their families back North from the Amateur Radio Booth. He continued his HAM skills as a High Speed Code Operator and in later years JC engaged others with his wit, humor and storytelling through ""Phone"". JC loved music. As a young man, he played the fiddle and guitar in a country band on a weekly morning radio station, WDAE. JC retired from W.S. Badcock Corp. JC is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Cecile. Survived by children, Donald (Sharon) Flynn, Deborah (Rick) Foley, Philip Flynn; grandchildren, James See, Timothy See (Quyen), Eric Flynn (Ali), Kelly Flynn; four great-grandchildren; brother, Rudy Flynn, of Tampa.
