Irma Z. King, 93 Teacher Lakeland " Mrs. Irma Z. King, 93 of Lakeland passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 from a heart failure. She was born in Plant City, Fl. Mrs. King is preceded by her husband Captain James Paul King and son Dr. James Robin King. She is survived by daughter Paula Simpson, granddaughters Jamie McGee & husband Mark, Samantha Brawley & husband Carson, great-granddaughter Finley Alexis McGee and Sister Alva Swilley. She graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor""s of Science Degree from Florida Southern College. Irma was an educator, teaching home economics at Plant City, and English at Punta Gorda. She was Director of Christian Education at 1st United Methodist Church in Plant City, Founder of St. John""s Methodist Church Cooperative Kindergarten in Norfolk, VA and President of Grey Ladies in Yokosuka, Japan. She was a Member of College Heights Methodist Church, Wedgewood Antique Club, and Alpha Chi Omega in which she received her 75 year pin. Her hobbies included gardening, Ikebana, bridge, reading and her family. A Remembrance Service will be held at her home, 1228 Lake Point Drive, Lakeland from 2 " 5 P.M. Sunday, October 19, 2014.
