Homer Pembleton, 91 Lakeland " Homer Pembleton, 91, passed away in Bedford, TX on August 26, 2013. Homer was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He was a conductor/trainman for the Railroad and a member of Presbyterian Church in the Highlands. After moving to Lakeland, he was the contractor for the first 15 homes built for Habitat for Humanity. Homer is a magician of some note. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia. He is survived by his sons, David (Kappy) and Thomas (Marsha) Pembleton, his daughter, JoAnn Bryant, his step-son, Robert (Tracy) Thompson, his step-daughters, Kathryn (Micheal) Rudolph and Holly (Leon) Bishop, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and his sister, Lucille (Floyd) Harper. A service will be held on Friday, September 6 at 10 am at the Presbyterian Church in the Highlands, 1010 Lake Miriam Dr., Lakeland, FL, with a burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society: Relay for Life, 1920 South Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33803.
