Henry E. Tucker

July 26, 1944 — September 26, 2024

Henry was born on July 26, 1944, in Bradenton, FL to Jess G Tucker, Jr and Dorothy Ezell Tucker. He passed away peacefully on the morning of September 26, 2024, and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Charlotte M. Tucker.

He grew up on Warner’s Bayou in Bradenton and moved to Lakeland in 1962 to attend Florida Southern College. He worked with Donatelli’s Pharmacy for 10 years before joining Area Real Estate Company and joining the Board of Realtors where he was Realtor of the Year and served as president. Henry along with his brother Jess owned Southside Package and Lounge for the last 36 years and Henry served as manager and operator.

Henry was a member of the 1983 inaugural class of Leadership Lakeland. He served the community by participating on various city committees and by serving as one of the founders of the Lakeland Margarita Society in 1987. For the last 36 years, he remained active on the board and helped with the annual Margarita Ball which raises donations and gifts for children distributed to our Lakeland area community and charities. Henry cherished the relationships he built there and looked forward to the amazing event each year.

Henry was warm, kind and generous, a true gentleman. He loved socializing with his friends and made great memories with Charlotte traveling with them.

Henry was the most wonderful husband to Charlotte. He loved her dearly and took such great care of her. He created wonderful experiences for his family at Anna Maria Island and was happiest at the helm of the boat, crowded with all the kids, headed to Egmont Key. He never said no to a boat ride. He was a good boat captain and an even better Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jess G Tucker III. Along with Charlotte, he is survived by his children Jesse Tucker of St. Augustine, Angie Duce and her husband Karl of Winter Haven, Tim Broom and his wife Denise of Gainesville, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

To honor Henry’s wishes there will be no funeral. Instead, the family will be having a celebration in his honor to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Henry’s honor to Tower2Tunnel Foundation https://t2t.org/. He was patriotic and he loved his country.
