Henry Curtis Lewis, 87 Lakeland: Henry Curtis Lewis, 87, 12 year resident of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016. He had been ill for over a year. Henry was born to Andrew and Alice Lewis on April 28, 1928 in Graceville, Florida. He was one of ten children. Army life was his choice and was sent to Japan for the occupation after World War II. After leaving the service, he attended Troy State University before going into a 30 year career in the pulp mill paper business. He married his wife, Hildred in 1950 and was widowed in 2002. He leaves behind three surviving children: Aubrey Lewis, Okerita Lewis, and Teresa Pettway. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Pamela Strong, Alice Wade, Eddie Lewis, Vivian DeFeo, Justin Pettway, Joshua Pettway and granddaughters Amy and Mandy. Also left behind is one surviving brother, Lee Roy Lewis and brother in law, Louis Hornsby of Georgia. Also left behind were many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service held at Heath Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Friday March 4, 2016, presided over by Lyle Combee, pastor of First Baptist Church of Eaton Park. Then he will be sent to Restlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida where a military flag ceremony will be performed and then the words of comfort will be given by brother Steve McCoy on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.
