Harold Hunt Snow, 92, died on June 13, 2018 at Lake Morton Plaza in Lakeland, Florida. He was born in Haleyville, Alabama on July 25, 1925 to Henry Robert Snow and Minnie Dunn Snow. Snow served in the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps as a corpsman during World War II and was in the Battle of Iwo Jima. After leaving the military, he attended Auburn University and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Harold was the Head Field Deputy for the Polk County Tax Collector’s office for 28 years. He was a member of the Dixieland Lions Club, serving in every office, and was presented the “Melvin Jones Award” for his dedicated humanitarian service. During his years of church involvement, he was a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland. Through his love of golf, Snow founded and headed the FPC Golf Tournament for 34 years, now renamed the FPC Snow Golf Tournament. He served as a Commissioner for Fire District #1 of Polk County for 12 years. He also volunteered at Lakeland Regional Medical Center with over 1500 hours of service. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry Robert Snow, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy; two daughters, Cindy Ferre (Paul) of Atlanta and Jane Stovall of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Cortlyn and Allison Stovall, and Alex Ferre; and twin sister, Marion Certain Loughead of Little Rock, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church Congregational Care Committee (175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, Florida 33801) or Compassionate Care Hospice (2525 Drane Field Road, Suite 4, Lakeland, Florida 33811).
