Grace Myers Boring, 86, passed away peacefully from pneumonia on Wednesday morning, August 1st, 2012, at the Palliative Care Unit in Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where the nurses are very attentive and caring. Mom was also attended to by the very helpful staff of the Good Shepherd Hospice. Grace was born in Lakeland on February 18, 1926 to parents Frank W. Myers and Eulalie Youngblood Myers. She had many friends who loved her dearly, both in Lakeland and later also in Franklin, North Carolina. Grace was a life time member of the Lakeland community, where she attended Lakeland public schools, graduating from Lakeland High School, then from Florida State University with a degree in education. Grace married Allan Dean Boring ll in 1947 and they spent 48 wonderful years together before Allan passed away in November 1995. Grace taught school at Dixieland Elementary School and later several other local public schools as a substitute teacher. Following teaching, she was a full time home maker taking care of her husband and three (3) children. Grace always enjoyed time with her family and many friends and was happiest in later years when she and Allan spent 6 months each in Lakeland and Franklin, until Allan""s health prevented those trips. Grace was in the Junior Women""s Club, Woman""s Club and Lakeland Garden Club (25 years). Grace was a member of Southside Baptist Church and after her marriage, the First United Methodist Church. In 1979, she and Allan became charter members of Lakeland Bible Church, becoming involved with missionaries all over the world. Grace continued to support them until her death. Grace leaves behind three sons, Allan Dean Boring III (Harriet), Jon Myers Boring (Christine), and Jeffrey Williams Boring (Tracy), all in Lakeland, grandchildren Allan Dean Boring IV and Jeffrey T. Boring, Lakeland, Perianne Boring, Washington DC, Jesse Boring and Evan Boring,Lakeland, Margaret (Maggie) Sikes and Kelley Sikes, Jacksonville, brother Frank T. Myers, Ft. Charlotte, and niece, Terri Myers, Englewood, FL. There will be a visitation Sunday, August 5th, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Heath Funeral Chapel Tribute Center, followed by a memorial service at Heath Funeral Chapel Monday, August 6, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parker Street Ministries, 719 N. Massachusetts Ave., Lakeland, FL 33802, would be appreciated.
