Gladys "Nana" L. Artman

Gladys ""Nana"" L. Artman, 100 Homemaker Lakeland - Gladys L. Artman, 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Lakeland on September 26, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Zohn F. Artman, and two sons, Robert Herrick (""Bob"") Artman and Zohn Frederick (""Fred"") Artman, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Julia Phillips (""Lee""), daughter-in-law, Gretchen Artman, eight grandchildren, Stephen H. Artman ( wife - Karen), Stuart D. Artman (wife - Betty), Meredith A. Knowles (husband - D.C.), Spencer Q. Artman (wife - Traci), Sanford P. Artman (wife - Cindy), Melinda Lapina (husband - Dave); William """"Bill"" Phillips, James (""Jim"") Phillips, nineteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She and her husband moved to Lakeland in the late 1940's from Indiana and bought a house on Success Avenue. He worked at the downtown Post Office and she was active in the community. They were long time members of College Heights Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her later years at her home in Mountain City, Georgia, returning to live back in Lakeland in 2005. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all. A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland. Friends will be received by members of the family immediately thereafter in the Tribute Center located adjacent to the Chapel. Interment will follow the reception at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, it was Nana""s wish that donations be made and forwarded to the United Methodist Children""s Home, Post Office Box 6299, Deltona, Florida 32728.
