Geraldine Lancaster Fraker (Gerry) passed away on April 30, 2023, at 84, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born on August 15, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, to John Lee Lancaster Jr and Dorothy Bulman Lancaster.
Gerry was a devoted elementary teacher with a gift for helping children with learning disabilities. She was known for her patience and kindness towards her students. She received her higher education from Limestone College and Florida Southern College.
Gerry was a First United Methodist Church member in Lakeland, Florida, where she worshipped for over 55 years. She was an avid piano player, loved singing in the choir, and playing handbells. She and Cinda Hortin started the children’s choir there in the late 1960s. She was a long-time member of the Vanguard Sunday School.
Gerry was a devoted volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and the PEO Sisterhood.
Gerry is survived by her daughter, Laura Fraker (Ed Matchner), son William Jeffrey Fraker (Aimee Fraker), stepson Presten Hoag, stepdaughter Lesi Hoag, sisters Sandra Whittington and Luvenia Sisson, sisters-in-law Sandra Lancaster and Aldeena Estes (Bill), and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank William Fraker, parents, John Lee Lancaster Jr and Dorothy Bullman Lancaster, brothers Huey, Judson, and Buddy, sisters Doris and Rebecca.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10 am at First United Methodist Church, Lakeland, FL.
The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend at www.firstumc.org.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
Rest in peace, Gerry, you will be dearly missed by all who knew you.
