George B. Merrill Jr.

George B. Merrill, Jr., 96 Pharmacist Lakeland " George B. Merrill, Jr. was born to George and Bessie Merrill on March 15, 1919 in Gainesville, Fla. During WWII, he served in India for two years and then after his return to the US in the Army Reserves. He graduated with a pharmacy degree from The University of Florida and spent 35 years as a pharmacist, first with Prescription Shop in the Marble Arcade and then Merrill""s Drug Mart on East Main. George married Janice Evelyn Little from Newton, NC on February 4, 1945. They had two sons George Robert Merrill (Susan) and Mark Mclean Merrill (Loreli), two grandchildren, Melissa Pearson and Michael Merrill; and two great grandchildren, Maclean Pearson and Mitchell Pearson. In Lakeland, the family joined First United Methodist Church and attended the Homebuilders Sunday School class. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the chapel at First United Methodist Church 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801.
