Geneva June (Maze) Martin, 77 Mister Fish Founder LAKELAND - Geneva June (Maze) Martin, 77, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, with her family by her side at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, June 25th, from 10-11am immediately followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Service will be held at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland, Florida, with Pastor Jeff Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland. One of nine children, Geneva was born October 18, 1933, in Carbondale, IL, to Ira Maze and Hester (Ramsey) Maze. Geneva graduated from Marion Township High School, IL in 1951. She continued her education at the Western Union School in Crawfordsville, IN, graduating in 1952 with a degree of proficiency as an ""Automatic Operator"". After graduating, she continued her career at Western Union. In 1958, she married David Lee Martin in Johnston City, IL. The couple had 3 children before moving their family to Lakeland, FL, where they established Mister Fish and had their fourth child. Geneva is most well known for her Famous Mister Fish sandwiches from her well known restaurant Mister Fish. Established in 1968 Mister Fish has been a family owned and operated restaurant. Geneva spent many years working the business and creating life long relationships with customers who are still faithful today. In her spare time Geneva loved to garden, any afternoon you could always find her in her yard pulling weeds and planting plants. Geneva dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, one son, and one son-in-law, Rhonda Hadaway, Kimberly Martin, David Martin II, Michele Christman and Brian Christman all of Lakeland, FL; two grand children, Destinee Dunn of Polk City, FL and Cody Marshall of Lakeland, FL; one great grand child, Christain Dunn of Polk City, FL; two sisters, three brothers, two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law, Ruby (Charles) Durham of IL, Audie Maze of MO, Barbara (Kenneth) Sigafus of IL, Harold (Vennetta) Maze of IL, and William Maze of IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Carlyle, Kenneth, and Everett Maze. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation Of America online at www.alzfdn.org.
