Freeman Junior Strickland, 78 Builder/Roofer/Grove Owner Lakeland- Mr. Freeman Strickland, born August 24,1936, in Brundidge, AL, passed away due to heart attack on November 15, 2014, in Lakeland, FL. The son of Sam Carroll and Ida Bell Moore Strickland, he was the fifth of their six boys, and the tenth of their twelve children. He is survived by: Virginia, his devoted wife of 58 years; his sons Tony, Jerry and David; his grandchildren Anthony, Caity, Chris, Jeremy, Erin, Sandy and April; his great-grandchildren, Maris, Sienna, Ayden, Madison, Layla, Savannah, Talia and Giana; and two more great-grandsons are expected in the coming weeks; and his sisters Annie Mac and Margaret. A carpenter, roofer, mechanic, electrician, plumber, salesman, farmer, rancher and more, Freeman often worked from sunup to sundown. He slowed down for a while after he slid off of a roof and broke his back. But, with dogged determination and indomitable will, it was not long before he was once again out all day on a roof, on a tractor at his grove, or in a boat on a lake. An avid and skillful fisherman, Freeman landed trophy bass and limit catches of pan fish. He took great pleasure in fishing with family and friends. A talker and an outrageous kidder, Freeman found friends high and low, left and right, and he did not hesitate to help a friend. If your tractor broke, if your lawn mower broke, if your vehicle broke, just bring it down to his warehouse, and he would help you fix it. Freeman""s greatest delight was family. He saw his loving marriage of fifty-eight years blessed by three generations of descendants; each one was special and brought him new pride and joy. His memory brings pride and joy to each of us. The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 19, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Tribute Center of Heath Funeral Chapel and funeral services will be held on Thursday November 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Heath Funeral Chapel.
