Frances Helms Fowler 93 Frances Fowler passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020, at Lakeland Regional Health Center. She was born on May 20, 1927, in Lakeland to her parents James Helms and Nadine Lee Helms. Frances graduated from Lakeland High School in 1945. After graduation she married the love of her life Jack Fowler and they moved to Miami Springs where she started her career at the Southeastern Tire Company. In 1950, she and Jack welcomed their son, Dan Fowler. Frances had a tremendous love for God’s children, so she decided to start a career at Miami Springs First Baptist Church Preschool and Kindergarten program. She would later become the program’s director. In 1983, Frances and Jack moved back to Lakeland after Jack retired. Frances continued her love of working with children at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Preschool and in 1985 she decided to take a position at Cleveland Court Elementary. Frances worked at Cleveland Court until she retired at the young age of 88. However, she continued to volunteer in the Media Center until the spring of this year. Waiting on her in Heaven is her husband Jack whom she was married to for 63 years, her son Dan, her parents and her sisters, Martha Farmer, Alyce Schultz and Virginia Brower. Frances is survived by her daughter-in-law Julia and her grandsons, Sean and Ian who reside in Dacula, Georgia. Frances is also survived by her nieces, Gaile Mundy, Debbie Hoffman and Sharon Collins and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. They all loved to call her “Aunt Duke.” A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Medulla Baptist Church, 3930 Old Rd 37, Lakeland, FL 33813. Frances was a very strong, independent woman with an incredible tenacious spirit and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
