Frances H. Jones, age 96, of Givens Estates, Asheville, N.C., passed away January 12, 2013. She was the only daughter born to George and Lena Waller Heath of Swainsboro, Georgia and was sister to 7 brothers; one, a twin named Frank. Early in her childhood, the Heath family moved to Ft. Meade, Florida where Mrs. Jones was raised. Last year, her two remaining brothers Charles Heath of Wauchula, and Foster Heath, founder/owner of Heath Funeral Chapel, died respectively in March and April. Mrs. Jones was the remaining sibling. In 1938, she met and married Murrell E. Jones, her husband of 35 years. After serving in World War II, Mr. Jones became a life insurance agent for Gulf Life Insurance Company and the couple was transferred to Fort Myers, FL in 1946. In the 1950""s, Mr. and Mrs. Jones established the Murrell E. Jones Insurance Agency. Active in the community, Mrs. Jones was a long-term member of the Fort Myers Woman""s Community Club, PEO Chapter A-1 and served on the Altar Guild of First United Methodist Church of Fort Myers. In addition to assisting her husband as a bookkeeper in the insurance agency, Mrs. Jones was a teacher at Carousel Kindergarten. Mrs. Jones moved to Asheville in March, 1989, and became an active member of the Chapter A.D, P.E.O. Central United Methodist Church and the Asheville Symphony. A talented cook, she was known for baking pound cakes and Madeleine""s, inviting friends to join her for afternoon tea parties. Mrs. Jones is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne J. Brown of Atlanta, Georgia and Cindy J. Towson, (Ed) of Asheville; grandchildren Frank Towson of Asheville and Heath Towson of Indianapolis, Indiana; Jesse B. Brown IV (Jennifer) of Atlanta, and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Bennett Brown of Atlanta. Her remaining sister-in-law, Florence Heath, lives in Wauchula, Florida. A private interment will take place at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers, FL. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be held in Asheville on January 26, at the Pulliam Chapel, Givens Estates, Asheville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Morris Funeral Home of Asheville and Heath Funeral Home in Lakeland, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Children""s Welfare League, P.O. Box 15425 Asheville, NC 28813, Chapter AD P.E.O. in care of Pat Jennings, 21 Robinhood Rd, Asheville, NC 28804, or the charity of your choice.
