Flora Pfeifer, 97 Professor Lakeland - Flora Pfeifer, age 97, a resident of Carpenter""s Estates in Lakeland, FL passed away on April 17, 2015. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 2 pm at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 South Ingraham Avenue, Lakeland, Florida, 33801. Her grandson Dr. Scott Moore will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Heath Funeral Chapel. Flora was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on April 6, 1918. She was an undergraduate of Ashland College (Ashland, OH); she achieved her Master""s degree in Spanish at Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, OH) and her PhD in English and Spanish at Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) Before she retired at the age of 76, she was a professor at Delgado College, Tulane University and University of New Orleans (New Orleans, LA), where she specialized in foreign languages. Before that, she was professor at the Federal University of Sao Carlos (Sao Carlos, Brazil). Upon retiring, she enjoyed living for seven years in Salou, Spain, before moving back to the States to live close to family. She enjoyed reading (especially history-related books), traveling and being with family. Flora is preceded in death by her first husband Antonio Barreto and her second husband Otto Pfeifer, by her parents Jose Luis and Julia Campos and brother Helio. She is survived by her children Ed Barreto, Marilia Giorgetti, Julia Marasca, Desi Barreto and Regina Moore, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and other family and friends.
