Ephraim Snow Martin, Jr

Lakeland - Ephraim Snow Martin, Jr. died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on July 12, 2021 after a brief illness. Mr. Martin was born March 4, 1933, in Ocala, Florida, the oldest of six children born to E. Snow Martin, Sr. and Mary Yelvington Martin. Snow moved to Lakeland as a small child, and attended Lake Morton Elementary School, Dixieland Grammar School and Lakeland High School. He then attended the University of Florida, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Florida Blue Key. He was admitted to the University of Florida Law School and graduated in the top three of his class. He returned to Lakeland where he worked as a public defender before joining the law practice of Bryant, Martin & Kibler. Snow and his father founded the Martin & Martin law firm where Snow remained active until the time of his death. Snow served as the president of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and as Commodore of the Lakeland Yacht Club, and was proud to serve on the Lakeland Economic Development Council and as an advisor to the Blanton Foundation. Snow was predeceased by his parents and by his sister, Sue Martin Setliff (Wade). He is survived by the four children he adored: E. Snow Martin, III, David Eaton Martin (Cindy), William Michael Martin (Emily) and Gail Martin Abercrombie (Paul). He is also survived by his sister Cecelia Martin Wilhite (Ted), and his brothers Michael Martin (Joy), Stephen Martin and Thomas Martin. He cherished his grandchildren, who knew him as "Grandé": David Martin, Jr., Kristina Martin Millis, Allison Martin Tschirhart, Robert Snow Martin, Kiefer Hugh Martin, Roland Summers Martin and Ewan Martin Abercrombie, as well as his great-grandson Nathan Francis Tschirhart. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations in Snow's name to Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota (https://tickets.mote.org/donation.aspx) to support their work protecting Snow's beloved sea turtles and manatees.
