Elsie Louise Beall Huston July 22, 1920 – May 22, 2018 Lakeland- Elsie Beall Huston of The Estates at Carpenters, Lakeland, FL, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the age of 97. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on July 22, 1920, to Allene and Lloyd Beall and lived in Washington, PA. A graduate of East Washington High School (1938) and State Teacher’s College (1942) in Indiana, PA, she taught Home Economics at Trinity High School in Washington, PA. In 1944, she married Ralph Huston and moved to Massachusetts until he graduated from Boston University School of Theology (1945). They moved to Florida in 1945 and began their life together in the ministry of the United Methodist Church. They served churches in Callahan, Tallahassee, Woodstock Park, Jacksonville Beach, South Miami, Tampa, as Superintendent of the Lakeland District, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, and as Associate Council Director for Ministry and Higher Education. After retirement in 1987, they lived in Lakeland until they moved to the Estates at Carpenters in 2005. With every move, she took the lead in orchestrating her family’s smooth transition into the community and life of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years and is survived by her 4 children: Dr. David Huston (Dr. Marilyn Huston) of Houston, TX; daughter, Pamela Rosenburg (Rev. Jim Rosenburg) of Tarpon Springs, FL; daughter, Rebecca Beal (Dr. Jack Beal) of Bradenton, FL; and daughter, Nancy Fountain (Donald Fountain) of Jacksonville, FL; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Elsie was a loving and steady force in nurturing her family, always upbeat and there when needed; she was a shining example of poise and grace. Grandparents summer beach camp will be continued as a reminder of the importance of family that Elsie and Ralph espoused. Her children remember her as the best Mom ever! Elsie was a member of First United Methodist Church, PEO, Garden Club, and Antique Club of Lakeland. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 10 AM.
