Eloise G. Myrick

April 15, 1926 — November 8, 2015

Eloise G. Myrick 89 Eloise Myrick died on November 8, 2015 of natural causes. She was born April 15, 1926 in Marion, S.C., a small town near Myrtle Beach, S.C. As a child, she spent many lovely summer visits there. Eloise was the youngest of eight children and only one sibling survives, Genevieve Owens of Lumberton, N.C. Eloise leaves her loving and beloved daughter, Anna Allred, Anna""s husband, Ben Allred, three wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas Allred of New York City, Jonathan Allred of Orlando, Emily Allred Hall of Lakeland, and Emily""s daughter Annamarie, six weeks old. All of whom, she adored. Eloise graduated High School with honors and while packing to be off to Winthrop College for Girls in Gaffney, S.C., her mother became seriously ill, so she decided to stay with her mother. Later on, and after her mother""s recovery, Eloise was offered a position with Delta Airlines in Columbia, S.C. She worked for Delta many years and loved every minute. After marriage brought her to Lakeland, and while her daughter was small, Eloise went to night school at Florida Southern College. Some years later, she was employed by H and R Block Income Tax Service. While Anna was in High School and college, Eloise worked faithfully for her church, First Presbyterian, holding many positions as Vice President of the Women of the Church, President of her Sunday school class, teacher in children""s Sunday school and was a Circle Leader for many years. Eloise also loved her membership in the poinsettia Garden Club and other local clubs. Eloise was a true lover of gardening and at one time raised prize winning roses and camellias. She enjoyed sharing all of them, especially her dripping-sweet honey bell oranges. Eloise loved reading current news, watching documentaries and star-gazing. Her curious mind led her to seek knowledge all the time, and her sense of humor was always there too. Eloise truly excelled in writing lovely poetry and many were published. In lieu of flowers, she respectfully suggested a donation to Peace River Center""s Victim Services, Department, Lakeland, Florida. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., and afterwards, family will appreciate visiting with those who have attended. Eloise implored her daughter to include the following poem she wrote in 1999. It""s one of many she loved. Love to Anna My daughter, Anna is a dedicated teacher. The kids all love her, but it's not her only best feature. Her own children know she's a wonderful mother. They think she's super and like no other. She's a beautiful person and a loyal friend. She'll keep her promises to the very end. Working hard at all things is her goal. Anna's an excellent artist with talents untold. If you think I'm proud, the answer is yes- Plus her three beautiful children are the very best. They have manners, sweetness and are so very cute. The family's a jewel - it's beyond dispute. I'd never omit her wonderful husband, Bennie. He's all around great, and his accomplishments are many. So to my loving, lovely friend and daughter, Anna, I'm saying happy birthday, happy mother's day-- in the most grateful manner. Eloise G. Myrick Service: 11/28/2015 First Presbyterian Church 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, Fl 33801
