Ellen Daughtrey Jones

Ellen Daughtrey Jones, 74 years of age, of Lakeland, Florida passed away on April 13, 2023, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Ellen was born in Lakeland, Florida on November 18, 1948, to the late Dr. John Estes Daughtrey and Mae Doster. She was the oldest of 3 siblings.

She graduated from Lakeland High School and continued on to receive a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education from the University of South Florida. She retired from Polk County Schools in 2010 after teaching at Kathleen Elementary School for 40 years. Ellen was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her 2 daughters: Kelly Jones Altman (Brian) and Melinda Jones Lesinski (Shawn) both of Lakeland, FL: her brothers: William Triplett Daughtrey (Elizabeth) and family of Lakeland, FL, and John Estes Daughtrey Jr. (Terry) and family of Lacoochee, FL; and 8 grandchildren: Taylor, Chase, Maci, Braden, Jackson, Carlee, Peyton, and Aspen.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park on April 22, 2023, at 11:00 am.
