Elise C Deskins

Elise Deskins, 98 Lakeland - Elise Deskins was born February 17, 1919 to Sally Ann and Tabor Coursey in Newington Georgia, one of 10 children. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Virgil O. Deskins, numerous siblings and other family. She outlived them all. Her dog, Peanut who she cared for to the very end. She picked cotton as a child. During World War II she worked at Lodwick field (present day Tigertown) on the flight line. There she pre-flighted airplanes for pilots in training. She owned Louise's Spanish Restaurant on Kentucky Ave. in downtown Lakeland in the 1950's. She was a server at Valerino's Restaurant in Lakeland on Main Street for many years. She was a cook at East Granby Connecticut tobacco camp for several years. She retired as Executive housekeeper at Holiday Inn Kissimmee Florida. Part owner John Glenn. She is survived by her babies, Sugar and Lula, they were her best buds always at her side and in her chair. Her 3 children, Patrick (Brenda) Jones, Ruth (Tony) Hopman, and V. Robert (Linda) Deskins; 2 stepsons, RH Deskins and Verlyn Deskins; 9 grandchildren, Kennith (Kim) Jones, Christopher (Tina) Jones, Patrick (Jonathan) Jones, Robert Jones, Ronald (Lee) Smith, Becky (Steve) Doyle, Robin (Justin) Becker, Kimberly (Justin) Morin and Alyson (Brian) Elliott; nineteen great-grandchildren, Kevin – Jamie, Kyle, Kody – Amber, Kurtis, Kourtney, Kassidy, Gavin, Garrett, Ashley, Tyler, Tom – Bri, Emilee, Lillian, Parker, Anderson, Ben, Maggie, Jessa and Jacob; 2 great-great grandchildren, Lucas and Beau. The family wishes to thank the staff of Lakeland Health Regional Medical Center and Good Shepherd Hospice House of Lakeland for their kindness shown to her and her family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland.
