They have a son Alston who is a junior at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis and a daughter Susannah who is a sophomore at All Saints Academy in Winter Haven.

His routine was fishing at Boca Grande in the spring and summer and hunting in the beautiful woods of Myakka in the fall and winter. Ed especially enjoyed his many responsibilities as a cattle rancher. He often rode his horse in the round-ups with the hired cowboys. He was an avid fan of the Florida Gators Football team sometimes knowing names of the new recruits before their identity was known by the media.
