Cleghorn, Dorothy ""Dot"" Trask, 82 Clothing Store Owner Cleghorn, Dorothy ""Dot"" Trask, Lakeland, passed away February 12, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. Dot was born in Lakeland on April 27, 1929 to the late Robert Barnett Trask and Beulah Perkins Trask Armitage. She graduated from Lakeland High School and Florida State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. In 1949, she married Jack Cleghorn Sr. who predeceased her in 1999. Dot was active in the Lakeland community serving as President of the Junior League and chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, The United Way, and the Learning Resource Center. Dot opened The Place, a specialty women""s clothing store in 1968. She successfully owned this until it closing 30 years later. She employed and mentored many young women who affectionately called her ""Flash"" because she moved so quickly through her store. In addition, she owned a store in Tampa and was instrumental in opening Cleghorns, a fine men""s clothing store in 1982. Her impact on the business and community world will not soon be forgotten. In addition to her parents and husband, Dot was predeceased by her sister, Eunice Carter, brothers, Perkins and George Trask, and by two children, Bunny and Spence. She is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Pete) Verrault, sons, Jack (Kimber) and Bob (Kim), 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister, Betty Kantor, brother, Bud Trask and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by the wonderful ladies who cared for her, especially long time caregivers, Alberta Joseph and Mary McGhee. The family thanks them for all the love, care and devotion they have given to Dot over the years. A service will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 3 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, reception following.
