Dorothy Owenby Schroeder

Dorothy Owenby Schroeder (Dot) peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Health. She was born on January 7, 1929, in Lakeland, Florida to Glenn and Zelma Owenby. 

She attended Lakeland schools, graduating from Lakeland High School in 1946. She then attended Queens College for one year and graduated from Florida Southern College. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and later served as chapter advisor for many years. In June of 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, George Schroeder, and they joined her father in the family business, Owenby Auto Parts. For many years, Dot attended and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. 

Dot is survived by her children Mike (Lee) Schroeder, Terry (Marlene) Schroeder and Kelley (Scott) Hutchison, grandchildren Matthew (Courtney) Schroeder, Stephanie (Kyle) Fagan, Katie (Tyler) Williamson, Shannon Schroeder, Drew Hutchison and Glenn Schroeder, great grandchildren Kathryn, Mary Jane and Scottie Schroeder, Annabelle and Rory Fagan, and Emily and Carter Williamson. 

Per her specific wishes a private graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
