DOLORES WOOD MCMANUS, 85 Homemaker Lakeland, Dolores Wood McManus, died on November 15, 2014 of natural causes. Dolores Wood McManus affectionately known as ""The Boss"", was called by the Lord Almighty to heaven. Born in Bridgeport, Conn. to Permelia and Peter Brewster she graduated from Harding HS, attended Arnold College while majoring in PE and a member of the gymnastics team. She actively served her church, St. Andrew""s of Bpt., Ct. as an officer of the Rosary Confraternity. She loved the ""Silver Screen"" and had a passion for old movies, vintage TV, and spaghetti westerns. She completed her NY Times crossword puzzle daily and loved to round up a game of Poker. She had a wonderful spirit and quick wit. Those who could keep up with her and spar with equal vim and vigor found her endearing. She was the last of 5 siblings to pass. In 1978, she and her husband Tom McManus retired to Delray Beach, Fl. Upon his passing, she moved to Lakeland in 1993. Preceded in death by Atty. Thomas W. McManus, she is survived by her 5 children: Sharon Comkowycz (Paul) of Winter Haven; Tom McManus (Jane) of N. Hampton, NH; Keith McManus of Manchester, Ct.; Mary Ellen McManus (Roger) of Scottsdale, AZ; and Tricia DiCesare (Pat) of Lakeland; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Visitation is on Wed., 11/19 at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland from 5-7pm. A celebratory funeral mass will be on Thurs. 11/20 at St. John Newman Church, Lakeland at 10:30am.
