Doc Stevens Wesson, Jr. Production Supervisor/Royster Lakeland- Doc Stevens Wesson, Jr., age 90, of Lakeland, died from natural causes on March 3, 2013. Doc was born on June 4, 1922 in Birmingham, Alabama to Doc Stevens Wesson, Sr., and Kathleen (McAlister) Wesson. He served in the Marine Corp during World War II from April 1942 through November 1945. Doc graduated from Howard College with a B.S. in 1946 and from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Commerce and Business Administration in 1948. Upon graduation from The University of Alabama he was designated a Distinguished Military Graduate. Following over 20 years of Reserve duty, he retired as a Major in the United States Army. Doc worked as a production supervisor for Royster Company in Mulberry, Florida for 32 years. He was also active in his community and in his church, College Heights United Methodist Church. Doc was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Virginia (Venable) Wesson of Lakeland; son-in-law, Edward Luthy (Wisconsin); grandsons, Steven Valiant Luthy (Michigan), Edward William Luthy, III (Washington, D.C.); and two great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Virginia (Wesson) Luthy. The family requests that any memorial be given to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, Florida 33823. Interment will be held in Lakeland at a later time.
