David Pegues Hauseman 87 Lakeland- Mr. David Pegues Hauseman, age 87, died peacefully at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on August 4, 2012 from complications of cancer. He was born on August 22, 1924 at Erie Proving Grounds, Ohio to the late General David N. Hauseman of Moorstown, New Jersey and Rosa Pegues Hauseman of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His family moved to Lakeland in 1963 to work with his father at North American Steel Corporation. He attended Washington and Lee University and then West Point Military Academy. An injury at West Point caused the end of his military career and he subsequently graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia. David had many talents and hobbies. He was a life master bridge player. He also loved golf and football, and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He is survived by his five children; Susan Cox (Jeffrey), Jeanette Merkel, Debbie Viertel (Robert), Carolyn Eng (Greg) and David N. Hauseman II (Starla). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at All Saints Episcopal Church, 202 S. Massachusetts Avenue, Lakeland, Florida on Tuesday, August 7 at 12:00 P.M., followed by interment at Oak Hill Burial Park.
