David Marion Stewart

April 12, 1934 — November 20, 2017

David Marion Stewart Lakeland – David Marion Stewart passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017. He was born in Columbia, SC where he served as a Milk Man and Fire Fighter before settling into a career with Nationwide Insurance Company from 1965 until his retirement in 1993. He was involved in many service organizations in Columbia and Lakeland including the Optimist Club of which he served as president for a time. He has been a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church all his life. Never idle, he had many hobbies including a love for fishing, wood working and lately building and flying RC Airplanes. Surviving are his loving wife Phyllis “Jean” Stewart, His son Charles M. Stewart of Lakeland, and son and daughter-in-law David C. and Donna Stewart, Lakeland. He was also blessed with two granddaughters, Jenna Werner (Jason) and Kelly Crews (Justin), all of Lakeland, along with his 3 beloved great-granddaughters: Dylan, Avery, and Ryan. He was an honorable and righteous man and unwavering in his love and loyalty to his family. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 28th at 4:00 pm at the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 175 Lake Hollingsworth Dr, Lakeland, FL. Memorial gifts may be made in his honor to Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, 2590 Havendale Blvd. Winter Haven, FL.
