Daniel G. Senkarik was called Home to his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2019, after a battle with cancer and illness. He was born in Charleroi, PA, on September 6, 1923, to John and Katherine Senkarik. He was Confirmed in his faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Orlando, and graduated from Sanford High School at the age of 16. He enlisted in the Navy the day before Pearl Harbor and served his country on the Admiral’s Flag Ship/Atlantic Fleet from 1941-1943 on the U.S.S. Constellation. He attended both Mercer University and Kansas University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. His work history includes Russ Engineering and Wellman-Lord. In 1970, he purchased Lakeland Batteries, Inc. and later Imperial Motor Parts; he retired in 1995 after a successful career. He was always very active in the life of the Church—from Winter Haven to Sebring to Lakeland and Plant City. A member of the choir, the Lakeland Choral Society, Treasurer, Gardener, but, most lovingly—caring for the roses at Hope Lutheran Church. He is predeceased by his parents, John & Katherine, his wife Cleta, and his sister, Ann, and brothers, John, Jerry & Joseph. He is survived by his brother, Eddie (Phyllis), and sister, Edna Southward; his wife, Lynne of 28 years; his children: Kirby, Mary Katherine and Shelby; grandchildren: Robert (Katie) and Nathan Cole and Sonja. His stepchildren: Rob (Diane), Mark (Sherry), Matt (Kelley); and grandchildren: Charlie (Jenna), Carole (Sean), Ashley, Julia and Drake. And his great-grandchildren: Lily, Levi, Natalie, Anna, Aubrey and Leo. A Gathering of Friends and Family will be at Heath Funeral Chapel, 328 S. Ingraham Ave., Lakeland, FL 33801, on Friday, August 9, 2019, from 5:00pm -7:00pm. Celebration of Life service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2001 N. Park Rd., Plant City, FL 33563, on August 10, 2019, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations/contributions are suggested to Hope Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Hospice or Wounded Warrior Project.
