Cynthia Ann Cline Chase

Cynthia Cline Chase, 69, died October 29, 2011. She was born in Lakeland , Florida on May 6, 1942 to Robert N. and Dorothy Benford Cline. She was graduated in 1960 from Lakeland Senior High School and in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After college, she was employed by Shell Oil Company in Atlanta , Georgia until 1965 when she returned to Lakeland and married William Ward Chase, III. Their son, Robert Sullivan Chase was born in 1967, and their daughter, Jennifer Chase Campbell was born in 1970. Throughout her life, she was very involved in her community including membership and participation in the Junior League of Greater Lakeland, PEO Chapter W, the Bag Ladies, the Dresden Antique Club, the Friends of the Polk Museum of Art, the Peace River Center Coffee, the Monday Bible study group and the Salvation Army annual Kettle Drive . She was an active volunteer and lifelong member of College Heights Methodist Church . Cindy did some fashion modeling in the mid 70""s at Rheinauer""s and Maas Brothers Department store. In the 90""s she was briefly employed by Lanier Upshaw Insurance. Cindy, as she was known to her family and friends, or ""CC"" as she was known to her children and grandchildren, will be remembered for her sincerity, gentle nature, infectious bright smile, her inner and outer beauty, and her sweet, loving, kind spirit. A center point of Cindy""s life was her unwavering devotion to her family. She and her husband were soul mates of 46 years and shared their friendships, their travels, and their purpose with grace and gratitude. Cindy treasured her many friendships in Lakeland , throughout Florida , and in all of the places she and her husband enjoyed traveling to together. She considered all of them a very special gift. Cindy especially enjoyed her home and nursing her favorites in her orchid collection. She was predeceased by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband, William Ward Chase, III, her son, Robert Sullivan Chase (Laura); her daughter, Jennifer Chase Campbell (Tim); grandsons, William Robert Chase, Benjamin Sullivan Chase, and Riley Martin Jarrell; and granddaughter Savannah Madison Campbell, all of Lakeland. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Cline Hoke (Roland) of Roswell, Georgia, brother in law, Michael Gray Chase of Lakeland, Florida, sister in law Cynthia Chase Dodson (Charles), niece Chase Dodson Meador(Bo), nephews Charles William Dodson (Natalie), John Arlington Dodson (Brooke), James Michael Dodson of Mobile, Alabama, and Charles Roland Hoke (Leigh) of Atlanta, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 5th at First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive in Lakeland, Florida. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Center following the service.
