Curtis P.Glenn

December 29, 1930 — May 13, 2016

Curtis Perry Glenn went to his heavenly home on May 13, 2016 with his wife of nearly 59 years by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle and will be greatly missed. Mr. Glenn was born December 29, 1930 in Winter Haven, FL to the late Elgin Clyde and Maude Estelle (Wetherington) Glenn. By 1935, the family was living in Lake Wales, FL and it was there that he met his wife Marty in 1957. After living a short time in Bowling Green, KY they returned to Florida and have lived in Lakeland since 1965. Mr. Glenn served his country in the United States Air Force for four years as a Senior Air Policeman during the Korean War and was discharged in 1954 with the rank of Airman 1st Class. During his years of service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Occupation Medal. He retired as a Machine Operator from Owens-Illinois Glass Company in 1994 where he began working the day they opened, September 7, 1965. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, FL. Always an early morning person, whether it was walking on the beach to watch the sunrise or taking his beloved dog Sally for an early morning walk around Lake Hollingsworth, it was at that time of day he was most at peace. Curtis loved working in the yard, keeping his lawn beautiful and enjoyed tending to the many plants he had acquired over the nearly 45 years he and his wife have lived in their home in Lakeland. He was preceded in death by his sister Maude Alice (Glenn) Skinner and brothers Edwin Clyde Glenn, Harold Ernest Glenn, and Sherwood Elton Glenn. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years Martha (Marty) Cecile (Evans) Glenn of Lakeland, FL, his son Marcus Glenn (Meg) of Ellicott City, MD, daughter Martha Denise (Glenn) Ray (Greg) of Murfreesboro, TN, and son Gregory Glenn (Anna) of St. Petersburg, FL, two grandchildren (Lisa Glenn and Christopher Glenn), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
