Clifford Rees Morgan, 89 Insurance Agent Augusta, GA " Clifford Rees Morgan, 89, beloved husband of Paula Morgan entered into rest on Monday, March 11, 2013, at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, due to cardiac arrest. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 3 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida officiated by Pastor Mike Loudon. He will buried at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, Fla. Born in Holyhead, Wales, on November 20, 1923, Clifford came to America in 1930. The family moved to Pennsylvania to join their father who was a practicing Baptist minister. In 1940, he entered Wyoming Seminary Prep School in Kingston, Pennsylvania. After completion of prep school, he attended Syracuse University where he enlisted in the Navy\'s V-12 officer training program. He then enrolled in Rochester University as a Pre-Med in the Navy V-12 program. In July 1944, he enrolled in Columbia University to attend the United States Midshipman Naval Reserve School. His training continued in Virginia at the Naval Training School at Camp Bradford, where he trained troops in amphibious assault warfare. He was reassigned to the Naval Base in Boston, Massachusetts on board the LST969, where he served at sea with MacArthur\'s liberating forces in the Pacific Theatre. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Clifford attended Hahnemann Medical School in Pennsylvania and New York University School of Business. He then moved to Jackson, Michigan; there he would meet his future wife Paula. They married September 4, 1954 and moved to Lakeland, Florida. There, Clifford would place his roots and open Cliff Morgan Agency, Inc. dealing in mortgages, insurance, and real estate. He was a member of the National Association of Insurance Agents, Lakeland Board of Realtors, founder and past president of Polk County Mortgage Association, a board member of the YMCA of Lakeland, a member of the Kiwanis Club for over 45 years, and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, Fla. He is survived by his wife Paula Morgan; daughters, Wendy Morgan Thetford and Cindy York (Stanford); and son Clifford Rees Morgan II (Jill) and four grandchildren: Lindsay Suzanne Thetford, William Richmond Thetford, Paige Ann Morgan, and Bryce Rees Morgan. He is also survived by numerous family members in Great Britain. Clifford was a hard worker who advocated the importance of a strong education and devotion to family. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and friends.
