Charles J. ""Charlie"" Brock, 105 Grocer & Produce Supervisor Lakeland- Charlie Brock died July 13, 2011 at Southland Suites due to natural causes. He was born December 19, 1905 in Collins, NY to Edward and Anna Brock, who were married 67 years before his mother""s passing in 1971. He married Viola Renschler in 1929 at St. James Church, Hamburg, NY. Upon retirement they moved to Lakeland and lived at Skyview Estates. He started his grocery career managing a store for Wm. Larkin Co., Buffalo, NY. He then owned a store on Lovejoy St. in Buffalo and moved on after the depression to work for Granger and Co. Wholesale grocery. He owned his next store in Water Valley, NY and closed it to go to work for S.M. Flickenger Co. as a Grocery and Produce Supervisor and retired from there in 1968. He loved fishing, bowling, gardening and taking care of and growing roses, always fixing beautiful bouquets to give to others. He was devoted to his church and God. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Home Builders Sunday School Class. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was a people person. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Viola; and his second wife Marian. Also his sisters Ruth (Chet), Esther (Clarence); brothers Orville (Alberta), Paul (Louise) and son Ralph of Gainesville, GA. He is survived by his son Allen (predeceased by wife Delores) of Lakeland, FL; two step daughters, Kim and Laurie; daughter in law Ann; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A viewing will take place Saturday July 16 at First United Methodist Church at 11 am with a funeral service at 11:30.
